More Birthday sketches

I almost forgot about my little plan to draw these celeb birthday caricatures. not to worry, did a few today as practice. It's Jessica Alba (April 28th, Today!), Al Pacino (April 25th), Jack Nicholson (april 22nd), and Andy Serkis (April 20th). i like a couple of these, so you might see them again as finished pieces.

It's Done!

finally mustered up enough motivation to put the final touches on this and call it done. let me know what you think.

Nothing New

Man, it's so easy to go a week without doing any art at all, i've been really focused on schoolwork and other stuff lately and any thoughts of drawing have fallen to the wayside. I wanted to share something, so here are some caricaturist caricatures from drawingboard from a while ago. Took a bit of a different approach with these two, focusing more on the overall shape, the silhouette more than the individual features. anyway, hope ya like.

And I hope that i can get motivated enough to finish up something new to post soon, maybe even get back to my Van Cleef painting. We'll see.

2 Years of blogging!!! and 2 measly sketches

Wow, i never would have thought i would still be keeping this blog up after 2 years.

I've really enjoyed sharing my art and ideas. I have also enjoyed trying to learn from my art and the feedback that this outlet affords me. I occasionally look back through my posts and see how much my art has changed. in some cases i'm impressed, and other's i realize i have to keep pushing to improve, but that's one of the great things about this. Thanks to everyone who's stopped by and commented, and extra thanks to those who continually stop in and add their thoughts! your support keeps me posting. here's to another year.

and of course, i couldn't leave you with just my words. here's a couple of sketches i did a couple of nights ago while watching 'Heat'. hopefully you can tell who its supposed to be.

I'll just leave this here...

For the sake of posting something, here's my entry for the latest superhero jam at drawingboard. This month's all about aquatic characters. The thread, specifically it's title 'Somewhere Beyond the Sea' reminded me of one of my favorite games of all time 'Bioshock'. so here's a quick scribble of my favorite inhabitants of Rapture.

Let's try that again

Just another attempt at Ms. Johansson. She's a bit of a caricature chameleon, with every angle or expression she looks completely different and requires a new approach. a challenge, but fun. hope ya dig.

EDIT: added another try, took it a bit further than the others, don't know whether I'll finish it though.

Megan Fox Painting

I have a few promising sketches lying around, this was one of them. decided to paint it up. trying to keep it loose and painterly, but trying to get the lighting and colors right and keep them vibrant. let me know what you think.

Scarlett

edit:added final color version

Here's a preliminary drawing of the subject of the latest caricature jam at drawingboard, Scarlett Johansson. A very good face for caricature, she's a bit controversial though, as some think she's smokin hot and other's think shes just odd looking. you can see that reflected in some of the entries in the jam, as well as many other caricatures of her. It's the same as Keira Knightley, who i've also drawn. I think it's the more complex faces, in terms of how they are perceived, that make the best caricatures. In terms of Scarlett Johansson, I'd say I'm somewhere in the middle.I think she's pretty , but in a unique way. Anyway,I tried to have fun with this one, as the likeness came pretty easy. However, there isn't as much exaggeration as i would like. C'est la vie.

I'll have a finished version of this and of my lee van Cleef painting up soon i imagine
