Dave Grohl sketch

A quick sketch i did yesterday and to decided to work up a little more.

edit: finished, kind of. i rarely put out art that i'm not 100% satisfied with. This is one of those rare exceptions, there are some redeeming qualities, but overall it's not a very good caricature of Dave Grohl.

Formula one

I've wanted to caricature all the f1 drivers for a while now,they all have very caricaturable faces and i thought it would be a fun challenge to get all of them done before the season ends. finally got to it, just sketches so far. here's the first four, Jenson button, Rubens Barichello, Sebasitan Vettel, and Mark Webber.

Black River rivalry (Final)

Finally mustered enough effort to finish this one off.

I'm pretty happy with it. The designs, visually speaking, are nothing spectacular. However, my intention here was to portray the characters through body language and create a sense of personality, and in terms of that i think it's successful.

Cowboy

A quick doodle done in the closing minutes of the latest "ChiuStream". today's installment featured an interview with character designer Stephen Silver. The topic he chose for everyone to draw was "cowboy". Once again, i came in late, so didn't get anything in on time. It was pretty cool deal, for whichever sketch Stephen liked the best, the artist would be sent an original Stephen Silver sketch.

Oh well, fun exercise nonetheless.

Kimiko and Akecheta

Something new for the the CHOW contest at conceptart.org. Two members of the "Black river crew", a small town street gang, both vying for power in the newly leaderless group.

just a WIP so far, i'll update when i finish it.

Evil Pikachu

A quick sketch inspired by Artist Bobby Chiu's new Ustream live sketch sessions, "ChiuStream". i would HIGHLY recommend checking it out. It's a really cool interactive online experience. really inspiring and informative, I'm addicted!

anyway, i came in about half way, seemed everyone was doing their own evil pikachu drawings and bobby would select the best to redraw. thought it was an interesting idea and was just something fun to draw.

a look at my latest, decided to finish up a sketch i posted a while back. i'm excited about how this one is turning out, at least more than i expected, so this will go pretty quick i think

Getting back into caricatures after that little detour into character design.

Here's an over the top goofy sketch i did for fun today. It's weird, i've been struggling with her mug for a while now, and i just sat down today and whipped this up in no time at all. though it's far from perfect, it's endlessly more successful than any previous attempt.
