One more attempt at a self portrait in graphite. probably the best so far. however, i'm not too fond of how i handled the medium. It was hard to balance the visibility of strokes in the background and the more delicate shadows and details in the face. I would have preferred to use charcoal, but Oh well, subject to the requirements of the assignment i guess.

Brilliant work. Must be hard to hold off on your exxaggeration skills. Love the shading.
Your values are excellent. And I wouldnt worry about scratchy lines, never fight the medium :D

galvinator, it was a matter of using some organizational line this time and really paying attention to lining things up and not just doing it freehand
Marc, yeah, near the end i figured i would roll with it and use that texture as contour line to define the planes in my face.
