So, i had the idea to finish off my sketch of Marisa miller that i posted a while back. I've been working on it off and on ever since, i just wasn't feeling it on this piece, i managed to suck all the exaggeration out of her face, I became way too dependent on the eyedropper tool, really struggled with the hair, and totally gave up on the swimsuit pattern and copy/pasted it. A great example of rushing into a project without having a clear idea of what i wanted to do.
While the final product is passable, this painting was a total disaster and i'm actually just glad to be done with it.

I don't thinks its a disaster at all. Maybe the painting of the face and body don't flow to well but I think its great overall.
I know what you mean about not really feeling something when your working on it though, if I'm not having fun doing it I wonder if its even going to be any good and will anyone else enjoy it?!
Keep it up
Lee
I feel your pain on that one! I've been there way too many times! Good stuff tho
I wouldn't write it off....
I would set it aside and look at it again at a later date...
Looks like a good one to learn from..

Anything that provides a lesson is not a disaster!!!
...and I see some really nice things happening in that painting...you have a great eye Will!!!
yeah like everyone else says I can understand the pain...but wow, i still think the piece is great!
Thanks a lot for the comments everyone.
Lee- that's exactly it, if i don't like it, how is anyone else?
Big sam- thanks, nice to hear i'm not the only one having this happen.
Pedro-good call, i probably will revisit Miller as a caricature subject, starting fresh with some experience always helps.
Vince- words of wisdom! you're right. kind of a what not to do tutorial.
Nori- thanks, and your right, it turned out ok, i'm just not personally proud of the disjointed process that got it there.
I like it!
I love the legs and the delicate background treatment, and the likeness is there, maybe not too exxaggerated but it's there nonetheless man. Keep plugging and posting!
