Tony Montana

Seems crazy to think i Hadn't seen 'Scarface' in it's entirety until last night, and i consider myself a film buff. Of course, nowadays it's terribly dated, especially the awful 80's soundtrack and rip-roaringly hilarious montage. Not to mention, i always get a kick out of the giant lifts Pacino has on his shoes in movies cause he's such a shorty. Despite this, it's still a very Entertaining movie. I'm sure all my brothers in the hip-hop community will agree, they can't seem get enough of this movie! Why not? It's a great life to lead... that is until you're full of coke and swimming in your own blood.

Anyway, here's a sketch i did up tonight. hope you dig it.

Edit: added a finished version.

Sebastian Kruger Sketch

Here's a new one for this month's caricature jam over at drawingboard.org, It's Portrait artist extraordinaire,Sebastian Kruger, Arguably the best of the best when it comes to caricatures and pop portraits. You'd be hard pressed to find a single caricature artist who doesn't know this guy's Name and his art. I know that he's absolutely one of the names that comes to mind when i think of who has influenced my art.

If you haven't seen his Work before you can check it out here, or see some of his more recent work at the Kruger News blog

My first oil painting

I really never get around to doing any real paintings, and often don't have the motivation to get one done. A while back, my sister asked me to do a painting for her, but i kept putting it off. Last weekend, i decided i'd finally get it done, i chose to do a caricature of her and her boyfriend, and for the hell of it, i chose to do it in oils, a medium i have never tried.

I'm pretty proud of how solid a final product i ended up with, considering this is my third painting in as many years. however, i'm still not 100 percent happy with it. i've never been a very patient artist, and that really comes out in traditional mediums. it's a little rough and the colors are all over the place. After a week of trying different things This is what i feel is the best i can do. And after this practice, I'm really looking forward to doing some more traditional paintings and honing my technique.

anyway, here's the painting, and some of my process.

for the sake of posting something...

...here's some celeb sketches from recently.
I'm currently working on a gift caricature for my sister, and as a traditional painting, it's taking up most of my time, so i don't have much time for any other stuff at the moment.

i'll be sure to post it when i'm done.
