I can draw Megan Fox with my eyes closed

Perhaps it's the fact that i've drawn her more than most celebs, or that she's pretty easy to caricature, or both, whenever i bust out a sketch of this chick it seems to come so easy. so, here's another, inspired by Caricaturama Showdown 3000!

First 'Official' painting

i feel like this is my first painting because it's the first, maybe second, that i've ever been really happy with. i am getting more confident with the brush every second i am painting. you'll definitely see more and more traditional work and here as i keep it up.

oh, and Don't worry. I'll be back to more caricatures soon enough, just need to think of someone to draw...

Finally...

...figured out how to actually draw something in adobe illustrator.

My new class, graphic design draiwng is all about illustrator and it's many uses. this was the first project, draw a common object using mainly the pen tool. i was using my tablet, so i figured the mouse right next to me would be a good place to start.

Puppies in space

A line based drawing done as my first assignment of drawing 2. i assure you it doesn't look this awful in real life, tho it's nothing special. it did, however, out of all the assignments in my class get voted to be put in the showcase in the hall. i think the endearing quality of my subject matter often outweighs the otherwise mediocre drawing. i have no trouble saying this, the fur of a little stuffed puppy toy is tediously annoying and nigh impossible to draw well with just line, for me anyway.

just another stepping stone on my path to artistic enlightenment i guess...

Messin' with acrylics

while working out mixing my tints, tones, and shades for the color wheel i have to make for class, i busted this caricature out on a lil' 5x7 canvas i bought at the dollar store i work at.

A fun exercise, it takes me a longer time with traditional paint to really see where I'm going, so i have to be much more patient with the process than when i do digital work.

anyway, if you couldn't tell, it's a caricature of Liam Neeson and his soy sauce dyed hair.

Getting the hang of it...again

So, it's been approximately 6 years since i touched a watercolor set, as i had sworn it off as a lost cause. i have always been atrocious in my handling of this particular medium. Since i started my Painting class last week i really need to get into the groove of analog painting, and something in my head made me want to give watercolors a shot once more. The Way you have to think painting in watercolor is a real challenge, so it's a great learning tool for me. Anyway, here are a few brand new caricatures i've done up in the last day or so just to get familiar with watercolors again. There most certainly will be more to come.
