Doc Holliday redux

When i was just getting into digital painting, i attempted a caricature of Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday from 'Tombstone', check it out HERE. It was a valiant effort, but i didn't know what i was doing when it came to digital painting.

I decided to give it another go. this is just a quick one-through with some color, so I'll post the final when i get it done.

Happy Father's day... a little early.

Tomorrow is father's day, so i Decided to do a caricature of my Dad (cause i have no money to buy a gift) playing his drums.

I don't often do caricatures, or any art, for my family because i tend to play it safe and not really experiment for some reason. iIt's odd, because it would seem that i would be conformable to go crazy on a caricature of a family member, as i do with friends, but i end up treating them the same as any other commission, i don't get it. Unfortuneately, this was no exception. I really do like how it turned out, but i didn't push myself to do anything special, and for that I'm disappointed. However, i am proud of the fact that i was able to draw the drums correctly.

Anyways, here it is. Hope all of you enjoy Father's day with your Dads.

Just saw 'Gran Torino' for the first time, great movie.

i was struck by how caricaturable Eastwood's posture is, so i sketched this up right after the movie. pretty rough, and awful likeness, but i think its' promising and will probably finish it soon, so stay tuned.

So, one of my favorite shows, 'Burn Notice", is back on. sketched this up while watching it on Thursday, a cartoony caricature of the three main characters.

Did this one up for my ongoing project of celeb birthdays. He was super fun to draw, and i might just finish this one up.



And, last month just happened to be the 70th anniversary of the first batman comic, sooo, sketched this one up in tribute, as batman has always been my favorite superhero.
